- West Dallas Chamber of Commerce Meeting - August 12, 2003

Dallas Mayor Laura Miller addressed the Chamber about the Trinity River Project. She
said the new project will bring a "sizzle" to Dallas that conventions and
tourists will like and decide to visit Dallas in the future.
The Mayor's address impressed officials from Walmart so much they gave her
a check for $10,000 at the grand opening of their new store in Pinnacle
Park the following week.

Bottling Company of North Texas.
Reverend Chambers spoke to the Chamber about Child Truancy and asked the business
community to watch out for truant children. He asked that businesses report
truant children to the authorities.
Bridget Vinson O'Neal spoke to the Chamber about Child Safety Seats.
She is with the Injury Prevention Center from Parkland Hospital.
- President George W. Bush visits West Dallas - July 19, 2003
President George W. Bush visits the Lakewest YMCA on what is
believed to be the first Presidential visit to West Dallas.
This YMCA was chosen because of its up to date facility.
The President was in town to kick off his Presidents' Fitness Program
chaired by former Pittsburgh Steeler, Lynn Swan.
- West Dallas Chamber First Annual Luncheon Banquet - July 8, 2003
John Cappello, Chairman and President of the West Dallas
Chamber of Commerce, and a Mariachi band welcome guests and dignitaries to the
First Annual Luncheon Banquet held at Goodwill Industries on July 8, 2003.
The banquet raised almost $11,000 in funds for the Chamber.
The featured speaker was Chancellor Lee Jackson from the University of
North Texas. Several individuals and organizations in West
Dallas were honored for their service to the community.
