SUBJECT: Illegal Singleton Boulevard Landfill
The West Dallas Chamber of Commerce supports efforts by the Dallas City Marshal's
office and a Dallas County Grand Jury in pursuing the prosecution of individuals
who have allegedly dumped building materials illegally on a 3.5-acre lot in West
Dallas. The news media has reported the finding of tons of roofing and other
building materials on property located just south of Singleton Boulevard in
West Dallas. These materials were found to have hazardous waste, including
arsenic and asbestos, in their contents. The material is dumped on property
not zoned for that purpose and thus violates City Codes for trash disposal.
The West Dallas Chamber of Commerce condemns all illegal landfills and the
violation of City Codes and procedures. These acts of improper handling of
waste materials do not reflect the business community represented by the
Chamber of Commerce.
