City of Dallas speak to Chamber members on April 8, 2003 to about current and
upcoming street construction projects affecting the West Dallas area.

The West Dallas Chamber of Commerce hosted representatives from the
Texas Department of Transportation, the County of Dallas, and the
City of Dallas on April 8, 2003 to speak to members about current and
upcoming street construction projects affecting the West Dallas area.
William "Bill" Compton, Texas Department of Transportation, reported that the construction
of Interstate 30 from Loop 12 to the Continental Bridge will take about 30 months from
February of 2003. He stated that progress is ahead of schedule and that he is pleased
with the work being done by the contractor in charge of the project.
Antoinette Bacchus from the County of Dallas indicated progress on the widening of Singleton
Boulevard from Hampton Road to the Continental Bridge. She informed the Chamber membership
the project is in the final stages of design and that construction should begin in 2004.
The road construction should be completed in 2006.
Mr. Ben F. Cernosek, Program Manager from the City of Dallas Public Works and
Transportation Department, gave an extensive power point presentation to the Chamber.
The presentation included the plans for street improvements of residential streets and
the resurfacing of Singleton Boulevard from Hampton Road to Loop 12. Many of the
projects will be on the upcoming bond proposal election.
Rosa Lopez, Executive Director of Vecinos Unidos and Vice President of Planning and
Development of the West Dallas Chamber of Commerce coordinated this meeting of the
Chamber of Commerce. Additional information about these projects will be posted at
