Inaugural Antique Fire Engine Festival of Texas
September 1, 2003
PRESS RELEASE
August 11, 2003
TO: The Press
SUBJECT: Inaugural Antique Fire Engine Festival of Texas
The West Dallas Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with The Texas Fire Museum,
Dallas Fire-Rescue, and The Muscular Dystrophy Association will sponsor the
inaugural Antique Fire Engine Festival of Texas on September 1, 2003 at Fish
Trap Lake located on Singleton Blvd near Hampton Road in West Dallas.
The public is invited to attend the festival, which starts at 10 AM and
ends at 3 PM. The cost is free but donations will be accepted.
The purpose of the event is to bring awareness to the West Dallas area
and to create revenue for the following not for profit organizations:
The West Dallas Chamber of Commerce, The Texas Fire Museum, and to the
Muscular Dystrophy Association. The festival is partially in response
to the recent decision of the Dallas City Council's decision to ban pan
handling in the City of Dallas. The festival gives Dallas Fire-Rescue
the opportunity to continue their "fill the boot" campaign held every
year to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Area fire departments will attend the event and bring their own
Antique Fire Engines to display along with individuals that own
their own Antique Fire Engines. It is the first opportunity for
the public to view these mint condition Fire Engines together in
one place. The public is invited to vote for the "Best Restored"
and "Most Original Restoration" at the festival. Local elected
representatives are expected to attend the event.
