Business and Industry in West Dallas

Along with the annexation of West Dallas in 1952 came much needed capital improvements that made the area more attractive to business development. Already the home of manufacturing, warehousing and shipping businesses, the industrial character of this area emerged so that today approximately 26 per cent of all land uses in West Dallas are industrial. Businesses located in West Dallas now include retail, wholesale, manufacturing, services and government. Wholesale industry and manufacturing comprise approximately 73% of the West Dallas employment base in 1990. Increases in government and services are expected to increase between 1990 and 2010. Numerous business opportunities exist and are under development including major retail/business locations in neighborhoods, industrial corridors and enterprise zones.
