2019 Focus on the Future Luncheon
April 5th, 2019
WEST TALKS is a new format for this Annual, Focus on the Future Luncheon designed, using short powerful talks,to celebrate the happenings in West Dallas. Each talk will provide a deeper understanding of separate developments and undertakings benefiting healthy economic improvement and enhancement to the quality of life.
Brent Brown, President/CEO Trinty Park Conservancy
The Trinity Park Conservancy champions the transformation of the Trinity River to become the heart of Dallas. With the community, we will design public spaces that unite us, enrich people’s lives through access to nature, create economic development opportunities, and inspire protection for the river ecosystems in this shared natural treasure.
Jordan Ford, Owner/Operator Belmont Hotel
The Belmont Motor Hotel was built in 1946 for $400,000. Designed by Charles Stevens Dilbeck, the hotel is an interesting example of Art Moderne design with emphasis on horizontal lines, rounded corners, and stucco facades. Art Moderne was considered the counterpoint to the Art Deco trends of vertical lines and more angular, polychromatic elements.
Kathy Acosta, Executive Director, El Centro West
In summer 2009, El Centro College introduced a new satellite campus in the growing West Dallas community. The newly constructed West Campus is a satellite education center aimed at providing residents, businesses and the surrounding community with pathways to success in higher education.
Proceeds from this luncheon go to the Future Fund which is set aside to benefit education in West Dallas.
Purchase sponsorships or individual tickets now! This event sells out, make sure to join us for a wonderful 3015 Trinity Grove/Chef Sharon Van Meter lunch.
Note: The WDCC has an all volunteer Board with little infrastructure and very low fixed cost. Our mantra is collaboration in the business and not for profit community. We look for ways to connect, learn, socialize and build a better community.
